Letter received by Flanangan (25 July 2000) from Thieri Foulc of the College de ‘Pataphysique, Paris, with mention of Flanangan’s membership of the college, his wish to show Flanagan’s work, soft sculpture and the use of the symbol of the hare as a ‘Pataphysical award. Also Detailing Foulc’s wish to use one of Flanagan’s Large Leaping Hare images as a stamp and making reference to the exhibition Ubu in UK, the Mare Gallery, London (July – September 2000)
Book of 16 stamps; ‘Le Transcendant Corps des College de ‘Pataphysics, commissioned by the college in 2001, accompanied by small catalogue booklet. Contributors to the stamps include works by Barry Flanagan, Barbara Wright, Roland Topor, Edoardo Sanguineti, ‘Papillon. S’ [Robert Descharnes], Dario Fo, Umberto Eco, Camilo José Cela, Henri Bouché, André Blavier, Maurice Bazy, Jean Baurillard, Enrico Baj, Jean-Christophe Averty, Fernando Arrabal and Noel Arnaud. Commissioned by Jean – Max Albert, the ‘Regent Hypothetical Second of the College de ‘Pataphysique’, to honour the ‘Transcendent Corpe Satapes’ [this particular group of ‘Pataphysicans] on the occasion of the ‘first anniversary of the Désocculation’ [1st anniversary of inaction].
