Art Anarchy and Apostasy Better books at Trondheim Kunstmuseum Gramolna, Norway features documentation of Barry’s participation in an exhibition held at Better Books, 1965 as part of the Group H exhibition. The exhibition in Norway is a new configuration of the Better Books exhibition at Flat Time House,

In the Group H exhibition at Better Books, Barry showed aaing j gni aa (1965) with John Sharkey’s poem.

Barry Flanagan’s work aaing j gni aa, (1965) comprises five distinct sculptural components and a sixth element is circle that surrounds the pieces. Flanagan made the work initially as individual sculptures during the summer term while he was a student on the advanced sculpture course at St Martins School of Art. Concrete poet John Sharkey knew Flanagan because of their shared interests in the connections between sound, language and sculpture was also in the exhibition. In July the two men had a joint exhibition in the basement of Better Books, Charing Cross road, it was under the umbrella of Group H, with whom Barry exhibited in 1966. Barry designed a limited edition poster, which announced the exhibition. He signed and dated each.
