Seth Siegelaub etcetera: ‘ archive, conceptual art, textiles.

Dr Jo Melvin contributed a lecture at the symposium on Siegelaub’s diverse career in which she explored Barry Flanagan’s relationship to Seth Siegelaub, the radical art dealer and pioneer of new methods of distribution best known in the art world for for the promotion of Conceptual Art in the 1960s and 70s.

Flanagan was one of Siegelaub’s invited contributors to the ‘One Month’ exhibition, a calendar exhibition, March 1969. This calendar exhibition featured a different artist’s work for each day of the month. Siegelaub invited 31 contemporary artist’s to contribute a work and those who replied as well as those who did not reply are all featured.
