Flanagan printed ‘funds’ in denominations of five, ten, and fifty, using them to pay his assistants and collaborators until he was sufficiently solvent to give them cash. Recipients include Andrew Dipper, Charles Harrison, Lucy Lippard, John Latham, Tony Stokes and Cheryll Potter.
These lino prints are authenticated with a thumbprint in blue ink. Minting money as art is a humorous comment on the transactions and operations of the art market.
