Print illustrating Seamus Heaney’s translation of the Middle English poem ‘The Names of the Hare’

Flanagan collaborated with the poet Seamus Heaney to produce a print of his translation of the ‘Names of the Hare’. Set alongside the Middle English poem and graced by three gilded leaping hares above the text, the poem focuses attention on the hare’s trickster character; it is quixotic, paradoxical and contradictory.
