Art Basel Miami Beach 2023

Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 opens this week, with work by Barry Flanagan presented on the stands of Waddington Custot, Kasmin Gallery and Galerie Max Hetzler. Highlights include Juggler, 1994 and Large Podenco Hound, 2008 plus several of Flanagan’s Rowford Process plinths. Flanagan explored alternatives to the generic white plinth, using strips of ramin, a strong light-coloured wood, fixed with brass pins. He also used this intricate latticework form to design and make the Hayward Gallery a series of exhibition benches which remained in use for years.
